St. Paul’s on-the-Hill Episcopal Church

Home

Welcome! St. Paul’s on-the-Hill is a welcoming church that reflects the diversity of our region. We have members who have lived in Winchester all their lives and members who have recently moved to the area. Many of our newer members are families with young children who were seeking a good community where they could buy a home, while still being within commuting distance of the D.C. area. Other new members include those who have retired to the Winchester area. This is also a great church for Young Adults who want to use their minds as well as nurture their spirits. We have members who live in Stephens City, Berryville, and West Virginia. Why do people come from all over to be a part of St. Paul’s? Well, our Fellowship Time has the best food; but it probably has more to do with the warm welcome people receive and the on-going interest expressed in each person’s life. Children are honored and respected for the gifts that they bring. We offer a worship experience that is centered on the Eucharist, which means that we normally have communion every Sunday at 8am and 10:00am. All baptized persons, from any denomination, are invited to receive communion in our church. On Sundays, you will see people dressed very casually, and you will see an occasional jacket and tie. Come dressed as you feel most comfortable. You will be welcomed.

Our staff includes: The Rev. Dr. Hilary B. Smith, rector; Ms. Heather Ankerbrand, Director of Music; and Mrs. Trudi Schwarting, parish secretary. Thank you for visiting our website. We invite you to visit us in person; we would be delighted to meet you. If you have any questions, give us a call or contact our priest by email at hilary@spoth.org or send an email to our secretary at office@spoth.org.
